May 14: TimeBank Information Sessions
7:00pm, Terrace Club, 380 Rector Place. TimeBanks are a way for people
to use their skills, share their passions, meet their neighbors, and
exchange services with each other with no out of pocket expense. Members
give what they can and get what they need. Membership in the TimeBank is
free and open to people of all backgrounds, ability, and ages. Learn how it
all works at this FREE event co-sponsored by The BPC Neighbors' Association
and Milstein Properties. Refreshments will be served.
May 19: Parents' Network Workshop Series
12:30-2:30pm, The Verdesian Community Room, 211 North End Avenue. Julia
Pimsleur Levine, founder and president of Little Pim: foreign language and
fun award winning DVD series, will speak about introducing your child to a
foreign language. How and when to start, and what are the benefits? The
workshop series is a FREE monthly event. Enjoy some coffee and pastries and
chat with other parents while the kids enjoy a playgroup. Children and
newcomers are welcome!
Every Thursday: Fairway Bus Trips Shopping trip to Fairway in Red Hook open to all Seniors. Two van pick-up spots, 8:45AM on River Terrace across from Pan Latin and 9:00AM on South End Ave. and Rector Place. The van leaves Fairway at 11:00AM for the return trip. Sponsored by the Downtown Alliance.
Event Highlight
The 7th Annual Downtown Preschool Fair was a big hit this year with over 150 parents in attendance! Parents had the opportunity to meet the owners and heads of schools from the best downtown preschools and collect important school information. The free annual event was presented by the BPC Neighbors' Association and the BPC Parks Conservancy. It was held on January 27, 2009 at Stuyvesant High School. |
What does BPCNA do for the community?
We offer events, meetings, and more for everyone from newborns to seniors.
Our adults only events include Neighbors' Nite Out, Small Business Networking, and Writers Showcase.
For kids and parents we offer our Halloween Parade, parenting lecture series, Summerfest celebration, Downtown Preschool
Fair, and more.
And our Teen Council offers special events and the "Teens Only" section at the BPC Block
Party.
